Our Uncle Tom Gabriel was awarded "the Merchant Marine Medal for Outstanding Achievement for the crucial recovery support they and their ships provided following the costliest hurricane [Katrina] in U.S. history."

Uncle Father John on National Review

Today on National Review Online ("NRO" for the cool crowd), Uncle Father John does his own talmudic reading-between-the-lines to decode the Da Vinci Code, and finds some (hopefully) intentional self-deprecation by author Dan Brown. Here's Fr. John's closing paragraph, and a representative sample of his mercilessly punny writing style.
Brown is clearly a good sport who knows perfectly well what he’s up to, and he can’t resist tipping his hand to let us in on the joke. So hats off to an author who’s not ashamed of coming across as a “pop schlockmeister looking for a quick buck”—and, as we now know, finding it with a vengeance… literally.
If this whets your appetite, check out his Da Vinci blog here.

little bit of trivia: Damien is the 15th Wauck great-grandchild to be born.
